NYOS Charter School—Not Your Ordinary School—is a free, public charter school that was founded in 1998 by a group of parents who wanted more out of education for their children. It is through a commitment to our students, our staff and our academic excellence that we have been able to grow to serving more than 1,000 students in PreK through 12th grade.

As a tuition-free, public charter school, NYOS receives about $700 less per student in government funding compared to traditional public schools. NYOS Charter School's academic results are substantially higher than those of surrounding schools, and as a charter school, we rely on the support of our school community to continue our commitment of academic success.

Secondary Course Offerings

Specifically for our Secondary grades, upon accepting a spot to attend NYOS Charter School, families must contact the appropriate Secondary administration to begin the process of creating their student's schedule.

We usually have a Secondary Course Selection Night in January for rising 8th through 12th graders (current 7th through 11th graders) and their parents/guardians.
