Points of Pride

Dear NYOS Community,

I am incredibly pleased to share with you the news that NYOS was recognized as one of the Top 5 high schools in the Austin-area by Children at Risk, a Houston-based research firm that ranks public schools across Texas.  NYOS took Rank #4, sharing the Top 5 with schools like Westlake HS and Westwood HS.  NYOS climbed an incredible 12 places this year, up from Rank #16 in 2009.  Children At Risk calculated the rankings using a combination of graduation rates, standardized test scores, AP, Advanced course and dual-enrollment course completion, select TAKS data, and other variables.  Learn more at www.childrenatrisk.org

Secondary Principal Julie Atchley accepted the award on behalf of NYOS.  Cameras from all major news stations in Austin, Univision and Telemundo covered the event.

Congratulations to the teachers, students and staff that made this award possible!
