Video Technology II (or Media Technology)

Recommended Grades 10-12                                       Credit: 1

Prerequisite: Video Tech I

Media Technology includes the knowledge and application of the principles of media and communication systems. Rapid advances in technology have created new career opportunities and demands in trades and industries. Trade and industrial education provides the knowledge, skills, and technologies required for employment in communication and media systems. Students will develop knowledge of the concepts and skills related to this system in order to apply them to personal/career development. Media Tech expands on the knowledge learned in Video Tech with a career emphasis.

 

Quarter One/Two

  • Review Story Structure
  • Review Composition
  • Learn Final Cut Pro, Motion, Garageband software
  • Challenge: Story with strong crisis
    • Transitions
    • Whose story is it?
    • Visual Storytelling
    • Symbolism
    • Match cuts
    • Lighting
    • 7 min. time limit

 

Quarter Two

  • Finish film 1
  • Advanced films: “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly”,  “2001: A Space Odyssey”, and “House of Flying Daggers”
  • Begin film 2 with a focus on Style and how to express it.

 

Quarter Three

  • Film/edit film2
  • Study documentary filmmaking
  • Begin film 3, a documentary

 

Quarter Four

  • Finish film 3
  • Help with graduation films
  • Prepare DVDs of all projects in all classes using DVD pro software
